About Palamuru University Mahabubnager

Palarnuru University, Mahaloulonagar, came into existence, fulfilling the long cherished dream of people of Mahabubnagar district in the year 2008, by Act No.29 of 2008 enacted by the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh and published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette on 24th September, 2008. Pnor to this. the University was formally launched by the G O.Ms. No 89, Higher Education (U.E.II), Department, dated 25.06.2.8. This GO makes history in the field of higher education In Andhra Pradesh since it paves the way for the establishment of six new universities in six districts of Andhra Pradesh. Mahbubnagar is southern district of the erstwhile Hyderabad state under Nizarn and bordered with River Krishna in the south and surrounded by the Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Kurnool, Raichur and Gulbarga districts. Mahbubnagar town is located at a crtstance of 96-km from Hyderabad The district is located in Latitude between 15. 55′ and 17. 29.N along vvith Longitude between 77.15thncil 79 °15.E. This place was formerly known as “Ruknoammapeta” and “Palaroury”. The name was changed to Mahloubnagar on 4th December 1890, in honour of Mir Mahabulci Ali Khan Asaf Joh VI, the Nizarn of Hyderabad (1869-1911 AD). It has been the headquarters of the district since 1883 AD. The region became independent and joined in the democratic India on 18th September 1940 The Mahbulonagar region was once known as Cholawadi or the land of the Cholas.. It is said that the famous Golconda diamonds inclucfing famous “KOHINOOR” diamond came from Mahbulonagar district.

About Mahabubnager

The district is also well known for its historical interest along with several other places of interest with regard to tourism. The place Pilththmarri, situated about 8 km away from Mehbubnagar is famous for the banyan tree spread across an area 01 1.21 hectares. The tree appears like a small hillock with green foliage from a distance. with a closer view it looks like a widespread green umbrella vvhich can give shelter to thousands of people at a time. Another interesting place in the district 5 Alarnpur, located in the borders of Mahbulonagar and Kurnool districts. The place is known to be one of the important “Shaivit, center, and also called ”Dakshanaka, in AP Its a paradise for tourists interested in archeological studies. A damaged inscription dated 1101 AD pertaining to the rein of Western Chalukya king Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI was found and it mentions the name of place as ,iatmpurert. There are several Trthas in the district along with a group of temples called Navabramha temple complex of Cola Brahmeshwara, Jogulamba and Papartatha. The Sadao, Chalukyas built these temples in the Seventh Century AD. The entire complex is a treasure house of history and art and of great interest to historians apart from tourists.
